Battery Disposal & Earth 911

Now that we’ve started accepting CFL bulbs, many customers are asking if we take batteries.  There’s good news and bad news:

Bad news: We don’t take batteries
Good news: A lot of places do!

Are you familiar with www.Earth911.org?  Well, you should be.  We all should be.  I visited the site to see where in the Oak Park area I could dispose of batteries, and here is the big list of places I came up with:

http://search.earth911.com/?what=batteries&where=60302&max_distance=25&family_id=&latitude=&longitude=&country=&province=&city=

Isn’t that fantastic?  I do recommend calling ahead before dropping off stuff, just in case policies have changed at some of these locations.  Use www.Earth911.org as your resource for all sorts of proper waste disposal.

Oh golly, THANKS for this. We’ve lived here since 2000 and haven’t found a place yet. In Indianapolis, you just dropped your batteries into a bucket at the library.

So we have amassed quite a lot of dead batteries waiting for a home.
